Introducing Basil Marceaux[dotcom], living proof that anyone can run for governor of a state. Basil Marceaux[dotcom] is a Republican candidate running for governor of Tennessee. Basil Marceaux[dotcom] stands for many things. Here's what Basil will do for you if you vote him for governor. - Everyone can carry guns without permits. If you do not carry a gun, you will be fined $10. - If you commit murder, you will be murdered, then thrown in jail. - Grass and vegetation will be planted in all vacant lots across the state, then sold for gas to cover expenses. - All gold fringed flags removed from the state, and replaced with the real flag with three stripes. - Traffic stops stopped. If you can't find an innocent car, you can't look. - All citizens will say the plege of allegience to a republicdom in the morning when you come out. - All citizens will pray to God, and say "amen." - Everyone will have a nice day. He isn't your typical candidate, however -- when he was on a local news channel talking about his platform his ideas for bettering the state included plans to "remove all gold fringe flags from the state," "stop traffic stops," and "plant grass or vegetation across the state." Basil Marceaux: Future Tennessee governor? (wonkette.com) He's quite a character, and we're not exactly sure if he's seriously misguided and serious about running, or just trying to make some sort of statement, or what. His website claims he will (via Wonkette.com): "VOTE FOR ME AND IF I WIN I WILL IMMUNE YOU FROM ALL STATE CRIMES FOR THE REST OF YOU LIFE!" Also on his web site is a list of the 7 people and organizations he's sued (including someone for "promoting slavery at traffic stops"), along with his platform (which includes "a free gift program" under "Equal Health Care."), and a list of his hobbies (including art, reading, martial arts,and survival training). www.zimbio.com
