A recent report by CBS Evening News "follows the money" on Democratic Congressman John Murtha's (D-PA) earmark trail. According to the report, Murtha has used $2 BILLION taxpayer dollars since 1992 to fund his wasteful pork projects. All the while, he received generous campaign contributions from his earmark recipients.

John Murtha threatens representative Rogers for voting against a Murtha earmark. Murtha said "I hope you don't have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone, and you will not get any earmarks now and forever". This is a potential violation of House rules.
A spokesman says Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a retired Marine Corps officer who became an outspoken critic of the Iraq war, has died. He was 77. (Feb. 8)

Yes, there are those in America who still to this day are Racist. Reality check for ALL of you, NO ONE PICKS THE SKIN WE'RE IN! (or nationality for that matter). Racial distinctions are used to discriminate against even the GREATEST Americans. My mother left Northern Ireland to escape the discrimination and hatred of an elite 'United' Kingdom, who saw Catholics as less worthy. The Brits have dominated the Irish for the better part of 800 years! So, I DO understand the history of African American's that are decedents to slaves. The Irish know what it's like to not be able to own land, have no civil rights, work as slaves and be killed without cause, or at least without JUST cause. To this day, I have a distrust for the UK government, but I do NOT feel this way against the people, unless they give me reason to distrust them. Why? Because, I am an Irish and US citizen by birth. I have said before, I have no issue with hyphenates, as it contributes to all of us to remember where we come from and the numerous cultures that make us Americans. If you really are intelligent, which most of us are in America, you understand me when I say, "we don't pick the skin we're in." THAT is all the information you need to say to the next person, regardless of their color or national origin, you are my brother or sister. There is only one race we need ...
Rep. Gohmert: Let me close by saying some have not had nice things to say about our colleague Mr. Murtha, and others wanting to pull out of Iraq quickly. I understand the faithful visitation that he does routinely. So I say thank god for his big heart. I say thank god for his compassion. Thank god for his visits to the wounded. Thank god for his ministering to grieving families. But thank god he was not here and prevailed after the bloodbaths at Normandy and in the Pacific or we would be here speaking Japanese or German. Thank you.
